Quiches are savory egg-based tarts of French origin, and like a lot of French food, they're typically prepared with a lot of dairy ingredients. Over the years, in the name of my love of French food and quiches, I've come up with a lot of dairy-free and vegan renditions of the classic pie, from basic dairy-free quiches to vegan crustless versions. This list contains eight of my dairy-free favorites, all of which are versatile and open for additions of whatever fresh veggies, herbs, and Dairy-Free Cheese Substitutes you have on hand. So, have fun and eat well!
This is one basic recipe that you'll come back to again and again. Easily elegant, this recipe can be dressed up with any vegetables or herbs that you like, or with bacon or a vegetarian meat substitute for a little extra savory component.
For vegans and those who are allergic to both dairy and eggs, this Basic Vegan Quiche is always a winner that's simple to make, healthy, and versatile. Feel free to use whatever veggies and vegetarian meat that suits your palate, and, if you're hosting a party, feel free to make mini quiches, either in small tartlet pans or muffin tins.
This has become a go-to recipe in my household; it takes only minutes of active prep time, and only about 30 minutes in the oven, so it's ideal for rushed breakfasts, lunches or dinners. Prepared with just eggs, seasonings, dairy-free soy (or almond) milk, and fresh baby spinach, it's inexpensive and healthy, too. Feel free to add in other vegetables of your choice, and use whatever dairy-free cheese is your favorite. For the recipe in the photo, I used Follow Your Heart's Vegan Gourmet Cheddar Cheese Alternative, which is a favorite of mine for dairy-free and vegan quiches.
Prepared with whole cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, onions, and garlic, this simple quiche is just bursting with colors and flavors of the summer season when crustless quiches are the order of the day.
Prepared with a quick, extra-flaky phyllo dough crust, this recipe is a fun, light alternative to rich-crusted quiches loaded with dairy ingredients.
Crimini mushrooms, bright broccoli florets, onions, garlic, tofu, and herbs come together in this quiche that's baked in a rich, flaky vegan crust. Vegan or not, everyone always asks for the recipe!
A favorite during the spring and summer months when asparagus is in season, this quiche is loaded with good flavors and healthy ingredients. Prepared with tofu, ground cashews, nutritional yeast, dairy-free cheese, and freshly grilled asparagus, this is a delicious dish you can feel good about sharing with those you love.
