From brownies to shorbread, cookies are traditionally prepared with tons of butter and other dairy-derived ingredients, but this collection is proof that you don't need dairy to make your cookies delicious. Browse through and find a dairy-free version of a favorite, or discover something new!
Brownies
Brownies are one of the most popular desserts for outdoor parties, baby showers, graduation parties, and parties for kids, and with good reason. They're easy to transport, easy to serve, and--best of all--super easy make in a hurry. Oh, and they're REALLY good, too. And you can add pretty much anything you like to your brownies: walnuts, raspberry preserves, bananas, peanut butter, dates, cola, avocados--in my book, they're all fair game.
Most brownie recipes contain a scary amount of butter, but they don't have to be made with dairy ingredients at all! Here are just a few dairy-free and vegan favorites that brownie-lovers (dairy-free, vegan, or not!) will love:
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Here are a few favorite dairy-free renditions of the most popular cookie:
Ginger Cookies & Spice Cookies

Holiday Favorites
Cookies can be a sweet part of any celebration, but especially during the winter holidays. Here are two collections of dairy-free holiday cookies that you'll love:
Oatmeal Cookies
I genuinely love a good oatmeal cookie. Because we all have different things that we look for in a good oatmeal cookie, here are several favorite options:
For the Chocolate Chipper: These Dairy-Free Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies contain eggs, so they're not for the vegan oatmeal cookie lover, but for anyone who is allergic to dairy or just trying to cut back on his or her unhealthy fats, these are the cookies for you! Prepared with only a few tablespoons of heart-healthy canola oil and a couple of eggs, they're significantly lower in fat but still so melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
For the No-Baker: These Vegan No-Bake Chocolate Cookies are among my favorites, and not just because they're healthy, vegan, and super simple to prepare, but because, well, they're really good, too. You'd never know that they take next to no time to whip together!
For the Wheat-Free: These Flourless Peanut Butter Oat Cookies are pretty hard to beat if you're dairy-free and gluten-free. Prepared with just six ingredients, these treats are whipped together in under 20 minutes from start to finish, too!
For the Vegan: I have several vegan oatmeal cookie favorites, and in addition to the No-Bake Chocolate Cookies listed above, these Vegan Oatmeal Cranberry Cookies are at the top of my list when it comes to dairy-free, egg-free oatmeal cookies. With pecans, coconut, and dried cranberries, what's not to love?!?
Here are some of my other favorite dairy-free ways to make oatmeal cookies delicious:
Peanut Butter Cookies & Other Nut Cookies
Second perhaps only to the chocolate chip cookie, the peanut butter cookie is quite possibly the most popular U.S. cookie. Here are some favorite ways to make them dairy-free:
Of course, other nutty cookies like pecan sandies and mexican wedding cookies take the center stage in some get-togheters, especially during the holidays. These often contain a ton of butter, so here are some butterless ways to make your nutty cookies better than ever:
Vegan Cookies
And if you thought that baking without butter was tough, try baking cookies without eggs, too! I'm just kidding. It's probably easier than you think! Browse through this collection of Vegan Cookie Recipes or look through this list for some of your favorites:
