Almond Tart Dough (Dairy-Free, Egg-Free, Vegan)

This almond tart dough is easy to make and perfect for both savory and sweet dairy-free tart recipes.

This recipe is easy to make for large tarts or individual tartlets, whether you're making dairy-free dessert tarts like these Fresh Fruit & Lemon Custard Tartlets or a savory tart recipe like these Caramelized Onion Tartlets.

Makes enough for 1 large tart or 6 individual 4" tartlets

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 T. almond meal or other finely ground nuts
  • ½ t. salt
  • 1 ½ sticks soy margarine or other dairy-free margarine, cut into pieces
  • 3 T. ice water
  • 1 T. cold maple syrup
  • 1 T. cold soymilk

Preparation:

1. In a food processor, combine the flour, almond meal, and salt. Add the soy margarine and process until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Gradually add the remaining ingredients with the machine still running, and process until dough just holds together. Shape the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour to over night before using.
